Safelist Tidbits

If you're new here, you may want to grab a free copy of my report "Turn Misused Advertising Into Cash". Just fill out the form on the right and I'll send you your free copy right away. Thanks for visiting! -->>

In this post I want to talk about safelists. Yes,
another misunderstood and misused form or promotion online. Well,
hopefully, I can clear some of this mess up.

Safelists get a bad rap, mostly because people don’t know how to use
them and don’t know what safelists to use. I’ll touch on both points
in this issue.

Let’s start with how to use safelists.

The majority of people use them as a pitchfest. This isn’t going
to get you anywhere. You’re much better off using a safelist as a
means of giving people some good free content that may actually
help them in their pursuit to earn a living online. They may be
surprised to see an email that actually helps them. Get them to
opt into your list by giving them a free report. Then follow up
with more information. Show them that you’re more than just a snake
oil salesman.

Now let’s move on to what safelists to use.

Most safelists are useless because people use throw away email
accounts and don’t read their emails. However, the people who use
credit based safelists have to read their emails because that is
the only way they get to send out their offers to others. This is
your best shot at reaching those who use safelists…sign up with
some credit based ones. Yes, you will have to read emails as well.

Another method is to use the shotgun approach. Use a submitter like IPostAd You’ll only get about a 1% open rate, but when you’re
reaching over 7 million people, it still brings results. But the
credit safelists still work better.

There is an art to making safelists work for you. I’ve been using
them effectively for over 4 years, so it is possible.

One of the best ways to use them is not to sell anything.
Direct readers to your optin or splash pages. Advertising free
to join programs gets good response with this type
of advertising utilising safelists, free is popular with this crowd.

See you then.

Pay Per Click Tidbits

Thursday, September 4th, 2008

Today I want to discuss Pay Per Click advertising…
or more specifically…Adwords. Oh brother.

I don’t do a lot of pay per click advertising. There is a reason
for that besides the fact that I am cheap, which I am.

The truth is, pay per click advertising is not a plug and play
system. You need to do constant keyword research, test multiple
ads and watch over your campaigns like a hawk. Ultimately, when
you first start a PPC campaign, you’re going to lose money. You
have to be able to ride the losses out until you find the keywords
and ads that work for you. That is the reality of this form of
promotion…It’s NOT easy.

Even using other PPC networks doesn’t make it much better. Sure,
they have cheaper PPC costs, but they also don’t have the traffic
of Adwords. So it takes much longer to test things out. Sure, you
won’t lose as much money, but it’s going to take a lot longer to
see if your product even converts at all.

So what’s the answer? Never use PPC? Of course not. I will be the
first to admit that using PPC advertising is very effective once
you know HOW to use it. I am not an expert. I admit it. However, I
know people who are.

Here are the experts:

Using Message Boards In Your Marketing

Wednesday, September 3rd, 2008

Today I want to discuss message boards. This is another really
misunderstood form of advertising that almost nobody uses
correctly. To understand this, you have to understand the
message board poster mentality.

The typical message board poster will simply go to the message
board of his choice and post an ad for his product or service. Well,
that’s pretty much what everybody does there. Nobody bothers reading
the actual posts. At least very few people do. That’s why, in order
to get your message read, it MUST stand out.

How do you do this?

Very simple. You have to pretty much use the same tact as I showed
you with traffic exchanges. You can’t promote your opportunity. You
have to offer some kind of free report and show these people why
they are having so much trouble succeeding with their business.
Trust me, very few of these people are having any success at all.
Your headline or subject line has to stand out from the crowd.

I use something like this.

“Stop Posting To Message Boards Until You Read This”

Trust me…it works. It gets people’s attention. They want to know
what’s going on.

Then, if you offer them something of value for nothing, you’ll get
people into your list. From there, simply follow the procedure I
outlined with TEs. Give them good content on a regular basis and
eventually you’ll start making sales.

It’s all mindset. Once you understand how people think and what they
respond to, this whole process becomes a lot easier.

See you then.

Traffic Exchange Facts

Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008

Traffic Exchanges:

This is one of the most misunderstood forms of generating traffic
because most people don’t know how to use traffic exchanges
effectively. To understand why this is true, you first have to
understand how a traffic exchange works. I will simplify the
explanation.

A traffic exchange is essentially a site where the person using it
agrees to “surf” a number of pages of other people’s sites in order
to earn credits for his own site. The more sites he surfs, the more
credits he earns. For each credit, or several credits, he gets to
show his site to another member of the exchange. That’s the process
in a nutshell.

Okay, so why doesn’t this work for about 99% of the people using
them?

For starters, you have to understand the mentality of the people
using TEs. They are there for one reason and one reason only…to
get credits for THEIR site. They couldn’t care less about your
sales page or opportunity. However, they do care about getting
traffic to their sites. And this is how you can take advantage of
TEs.

What I do is simple. I whip up a short splash page telling people
to stop surfing for traffic until they read my free report. The
free report explains to them how to use TEs and actually get people
to their site, by using this same technique.

From there, once you have them on your list, offer them more good
content on how to generate traffic to their site. Eventually, they
will begin to trust you and may actually purchase one of your
products that you recommend.

The people who use this process are the ones that are successful
with traffic exchanges.

If you REALLY want to get the most out of traffic exchanges, I
suggest you subscribe to my friend Jon Olson’s newsletter. This
guy makes ALL his income off of them.

Facts About Link Exchanges

Monday, September 1st, 2008

Its Brian here, today I want to talk about Link Exchanges.

First a simple brief definition for those who don’t know what
these are. My apologies to those who already know, for the review.
I’ll make it brief.

A link exchange is basically where one site owner contacts another
site owner and asks if he’d like to exchange links. In other words,
site owner 1 puts a link on his site from site owner 2 and site
owner 2 puts a link on his site from site owner 1. In theory, this
is very simple and is a great way to build up backlinks to your
site.

The reality is a much different picture.

See, the site owners are all out for themselves. So they’re not
going to exchange links with somebody who has a site that can’t
help them. In other words a guy with a PR4 site isn’t going to
exchange links with a guy who has a PR0 site. There is nothing in
it for him. And if you are a PR0 site and you exchange links with
another PR0 site, well, this really doesn’t do much for you either.
You need to get your links on higher ranked sites.

Well, there is an easy way to do it but it doesn’t involve doing
a link exchange. Good luck getting one that is to your advantage.

The best way to get a link on a high ranked site is simply to put
it there yourself.

How?

Blogs can get very high PR rankings and many blogs allow comments.
So simply go to a blog in your niche with a high PR and post a
comment. Make it one that has some real value…maybe even giving
some tips of your own that relate to the blog itself. Then, in
your signature, simply place a link to your site.

And then watch your SE rankings climb.

Yes, you will have to go to quite a few blogs but over the long
run, it will work.

But forget link exchanges…You’re fighting an uphill battle with
those.

See you then.

Sincerely,

Brian Dew
